    Why experts pick it

The Coffee Chronicler tested the Opus 2 for two weeks and found it fast, easy to adjust, and particularly good for medium- and dark-roast espresso. Its 48mm conical burrs, stepless side dial, anti-static ionizer, and automatic stop replace the original Opus's 40mm burrs and stepped adjustment. The review measured roughly 9 seconds for an 18g espresso dose and low retention, but found light-roast filter coffee less sweet than a competing grinder. It is not especially quiet, and plastic internal components leave long-term durability unproven. Fellow's product page showed notify-when-available options at our October 2026 check; confirm stock before ordering.

    Strengths

    • Fast grinding and low retention in independent testing
    • Stepless dial simplifies espresso adjustments
    • Anti-static system and magnetic dosing cups reduce mess

    Trade-offs

    • Less compelling for light-roast filter-first drinkers
    • Loud in testing; long-term durability is unproven
    • Availability varies by finish
